Announcements

The most common announcements associated with weddings are wedding announcements and engagement announcements. These may be made through traditional means (newspapers, announcement cards) or through modern means (websites, email.)

Announcing The Engagement

Currently, one of the popular forms of announcing the engagement is by using "Save The Date" cards. It not only announces the engagement but allows the receipient time to plan to attend the wedding.

Save The Dates come in all different styles, including magnets, postcards, emails, and of course, a traditional handwritten note.

Be careful though, that when you send out your information, that the person who recieves it is definately going to be invited to the wedding. If you want to notify but not necessarily invite, a card or note with a "We're engaged!" annoncement, sans the wedding date, is probably best.

Most local newspapers offer the option to place an announcement in their Lifestyles section, often a small blurb is free, and for a small fee, they will include a photo as well as more details on the bride, groom, and wedding location.

And of course, there is always a simple phone call. People will feel special hearing it straight from the bride or groom!

Announcing The Wedding

With so many reception venues charging per guest, its becoming more and more common to trim down the guest list and announce the wedding to those who are unable to attend after the wedding.

There are lots of ways to do this:

• Personalized Photo Cards: Not only would you be sending the announcment, but you'd offer them a glimpse into the day itself with a photo of the bride and groom.

• An elegant card: Using the same invitation printer, or kit, you can replicate the invitation, but change the wording to announce the already occured wedding.

• For a more broad announcment, the same section of the newspaper that announces engagements will also announce the wedding, again they usually offer the option to add a photo for a small fee- often times in color.
