Attendants

From AppleBride Community Encyclopedia

Attendants are people in the wedding party who assist the bride and groom with various wedding duties.

Maid of Honor, or Matron of Honor if she's married (MOH) is the tradional name of the bride's closest attendant, usually a sister or best friend. This person helps the bride with planning and is responsible for the bachelorette party and possibly throwing a wedding shower.

Bridesmaids come next. They help the MOH and bride in all aspects of the wedding, or wherever help is needed. This includes getting ready before the ceremony, decorations, helping with invitations, getting the word out about registries, etc.

For the groom's attendants, there is a Best Man, (BM) who is usually his best friend or brother. Next are the groomsmen, his other attendants. Their primary responsibility is planning the bachelor party and helping the groom on the day of the wedding, getting dressed, calming nerves, etc.

All attendants are traditionally expected to pay for their own attire: renting a tux, purchasing the bridesmaids dresses, etc.
