A Note From HelenAngel
Welcome to the launch of AppleBride!
The mission of AppleBride is on our start page. We are a consumer-friendly site that encourages participation and helping others.
I had the idea for this site when I started planning my own wedding. I joined several communities and did a lot of research, as did my husband Mattie. One thing we discovered is that when it comes weddings, consumers get mistreated in the worst way. The bridal industry has many honest and good vendors, however it has just as many dishonest ones as well. Throw in the fact that the primary planners of weddings tend to be the brides themselves, who see their weddings as one of the most important events of their lives and who are working under time and budget constrictions. Because of this, some vendors take advantage of the situation and engage in unethical business practices.
This needs to change. If you go to any other store or any other vendor for any other event, you are not treated as poorly as wedding consumers are. In general, you will find business practices that are fair and protect both the shop and the consumer. This is not the case in the bridal industry. I believe you should not pay more for a product or service just because it is for a wedding. I do not believe brides & grooms should not have the same rights as other consumers in similar shops. I do believe that consumer advocacy is desperately needed.
People need a place to talk about weddings and give their advice to the world- whether they are single, engaged, or married. I want AppleBride to be the online encyclopedia of everything concerning weddings, and I hope you'll join with me to make this happen. =)
See you around!
