The father of the groom takes the responsibilities of wedding expenses and the rehearsal dinner. His responsibility for the rehearsal dinner is so great that he sends invitations to just about everyone involved in the wedding.

Toasts


The father of the groom toasts at the rehearsal dinner. He may even make a supplementary toast at the wedding reception.


Traditional Ceremonial Duties


The father of the groom follows the mother of the groom down the aisle, unless they are divorced. He may also help share the expenses of the wedding with the mother of the groom and the father of the bride.


Other Culturally-Specific Duties


Jewish


The father of the groom takes the groom down the aisle rather than simply following the mother of the groom.


Traditional Wedding Reception Duties


The Father of the Groom may make another toast at the wedding reception with which he wishes the bride and groom well. Like the father of the bride, he may also dance with the bride.
