Software Streaming

VideoLAN is a free open-source solution which allows you to broadcast media from your computer, live or already recorded. Many formats and codecs are supported (except for Real).

Live

To broadcast live, you'll need a Windows or Linux server connected online with a video capture device. You should negotiate with the manager or owner of the venue if it is possible to connect the computer such that the wedding could be filmed and streamed on location.

With Linux (through a capture card) or Windows (through a USB DirectShow device), you can feed a live stream straight from a camera connected to your computer.

Recorded

You can also use VideoLAN to broadcast a video you already recorded.

Intellectual Property Issues

If you are broadcasting a recording of your wedding, make sure that you have appropriate rights to do so.

If any music or video materials are being broadcast during a recording of your wedding, make sure that you have appropriate rights to broadcast them.
