Wedding video trailer

From AppleBride Community Encyclopedia

Want to get your friends and family excited about watching your wedding video? A wedding video trailer may be a clever solution. To create you own all it takes is your wedding footage, a little creativity, and some video editing software. HelenAngel and Mattie created a trailer for their wedding DVD, and you can view it as an example. (Windows Media Player is required, though.)

This article talks primarily about how this trailer was made so that it can give you some ideas for your own.

Making a Wedding Movie Trailer

Since wedding trailers aren't very common, we'll talk primarily about how we made this one. As we discuss tools and the like, keep in mind that there are lots of alternative processes and applications you can use. These just happen to be the ones used in the example wedding trailer that HelenAngel and Mattie created.

Prerequisites

In order to create the above trailer, it required existing wedding footage. Much like a Hollywood movie trailer, you'll need some scenes that you're already ready to publish. The above trailer was created when most of the wedding video had already been edited.

One important note is that you need to make certain you own the rights to your video. If you had a friend or family member record your wedding, you can use the video however you please. If you had a videographer record your wedding, you may run into some problems if you did not specify in your contract that you own the rights to your video. In the digital world, the person who takes the picture, footage, etc. is the person who gets to say what happens to it and has the rights to make a profit off of it. If you did not specify that you own the rights to all footage from your wedding videography, you cannot use the footage and hence cannot make a trailer.

Once you've got the footage, you need some video editing software. There are several great types of software out there with a wide swath of price ranges. For the video above, Sony Vegas Movie Studio was used.
